VOLUNTEER READERS PROGRAMME
- Voice of Our Volunteers and Schools -

It is an excellent program that has helped and supported our lowest grade 1 readers move forward in their literacy journey and has developed their enjoyment for reading!

Principal Gaynor Lim, Bridlewood
We had a reader yesterday that moved from the Bob Books to read an entire 57 pages of Elephant and Piggie (Take a Nap). He was SO thrilled with himself having read such a big, long book that he asked to show his teacher...(Later) he sat on the rocking chair and READ THE BOOK OUT LOUD TO HIS CLASSMATES! Wowee!! Zero to class story reader! I love that this teacher celebrated him in this way and am so proud of this little man. This is why we do what we do, right!!?! I am so grateful to have this story.

Volunteer Lynn Dapra, Yorkwoods
Thank you so much for supporting our students this year. Our volunteer teachers are so dedicated and loving that all my students want to go and read with them. Their support helped our students to improve their reading levels and to find joy in books. Big thank you again.

Teacher Sunita Sachdiva, Flemington
It has been a rewarding year at Flemington... little readers really progressed by leaps and bounds, from not recognizing letters to reading full sentences with expression. You know you've sparked a love of reading when they start requesting reading material or wanting to finish off a story from last time.

Volunteer Heather Firth, Flemington
First of all, my students have been loving the VRP. They look forward to it throughout the week. So thank you and I'm thankful for all the volunteer readers who are engaging and so patient with my students.

Teacher Joy Sohn, Parkdale
I am so happy to be part of the Oakridge VRP Squad. I look forward to reading with the kids every week. Who knew these Don't Let the Pigeon books were so popular... The kids seem to really love them.

Volunteer Anna Homem, Oakridge
It is a pleasure to have the VRP volunteers working their magic in the library.

Librarian Bruce Dixon, Chester
The volunteers are all so positive and students are very motivated to read with them. We are thankful for these amazing volunteers and the wonderful program they are providing for so many young readers!

Teacher Eileen Carnevale, Calico
