How & Why was this arranged?
I, Dr. Mel Perlmutter, was attracted to Masters of Progressive Dentistry seminar in Middleton, Wisconsin, September, 2007, at the teaching facility of the Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, arranged by Dr. Chris Kammer, son of A.A.C.D. founder Dr. Jack Kammer. I wanted to learn more from Dr. Julian Holmes about ozone therapy. Also on the 3-day programme was Dr. Todd Shatkin and his father Dr. Samuel Shatkin, oral & maxillofacial surgeon and M.D. plastic surgeon. Their presentation, featuring immediate placement of final porcelain-on-metal crowns and bridges on mini-implants, impressed me greatly. With the support they offer via their dental laboratory to diagnose & treatment plan these cases, and to provide surgical guides stents, I felt this is something I can and should do for my patients. In November, I saw Dr. Gord Christenson, who is also doing mini-implants, and encouraging general dentists to get involved. In December, I attended the Imtec Canada hands-on course, by Dr. Ian Erwood. Now, with Dr. Samuel Shatkin having already helped me treatment plan multiple cases, and Dr. Todd Shatkin supervising my first cases on March 8, what better way to get started?

Cost: $350 payable to Dr. Mel Perlmutter, preferably before Feb. 22. After this date, please phone (905) 791-1697 to see if space is available for you. Mail to Bramalea Dentistry, 40 Peel Centre Dr., #115, Brampton, ON, L6T 4B4.

Start & Finish: March 8 Seminar starts at 8:00 a.m., sharp, and ends not before 5:00 p.m., when Dr. Shatkin will depart, but will continue until all patients' prosthetic treatment is completed, and may continue after that with Dr. Holmes talking more about ozone therapy and how to use his new equipment.

Be prepared for information overload, with practical, usable knowledge & techniques.Receive Dr. Shatkin's DVD showing 12-unit Mx roundhouse PBM bridge on 10 mini-implants, completed in less than 90 minutes.

IMTEC is the only mini-implant currently approved in Canada for long-term use, but only for removable prostheses. The Canadian application for long-term use for fixed crowns & bridges has been submitted. Long-term use has been approved in U.S.A. for fixed and removable prostheses.

Below is what Dr. Shatkin currently is using, after many previous years of success with IMTEC.

This is the company that makes the MDL implant, and MILO implant. Technique is similar for both types. Intra-Lock also makes conventional implants.
